Fenty…hmmm, is anyone surprised? With all that has happened in the world, admit you had forgotten about the Fenty fashion label? Rihanna is a proven fashion/beauty visionary but the CLOTHES were strange and unpractical — price notwithstanding. Let’s recap.
Vertiginous, pointy heels held on by glittery dental floss. A confusing, stiff and awkward denim mini-dress/coat that looked masculine on the torso but slutty from the waist down. A couple of suits you could literally only wear to Puff Daddy’s garden party. Hard to pull off even if you had the $1000 — which LVMH are now admitting no-one did. It’s important we continue to have black women designers like Rihanna, for whom Black women are not an afterthought so it’s lucky Fenty Beauty has been a more accessible line and proved to be a piece of Rihanna’s vision we can call our own. She’s still got this.
