Kate and William must be looking at their schedules ruefully. In the coming months, it will be all hands on deck as the Royals seek to repair their dignity from the bombshell of Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah. They’ve been rocked by serious allegations including racism, dishonesty, press manipulation and there are new, shocking revelations about Prince Andrew. The Royal Family has survived some serious crises in the past, but this is a different kind of fight, and they just got their ear bitten off.

Over 17 million people tuned into Oprah’s interview making it the most-watched telecast since the 2020 Oscars. It was the only show in town the following day on social media as well, with a swell of support for the couple but the (white) majority of Brits seething at the ‘attacks’ on their beloved Monarch. British commentators such as Piers Morgan roiled in the Twitter pits from dawn to dusk trying to land as many blows on Meghan as they could. Actress, Fantasist, Liar, Narcissist. Some of the insults certainly landed. In the United States, the response was mixed. The left were pro-Meghan but the mainstream was ambivalent and there was downright hostility from Right-Wingers who view racism like climate change — it’s all one big hoax.
