My Chebe powder review. Chebe powder from Chad is the new natural hair trend for type 4s looking for better length retention. It’s hardly user friendly. But for some, like myself, the results make it worth any inconvenience. I’ve managed over the past few months to see about 1/2 inch per month in hair growth.

By inconvenience I mean making a messy concoction of creams, butters and water (I use aloe vera water, Olaplex repair and shea butter) and then adding the powder and mixing it together as well as you can into a paste, to smear along your damp, sectioned lengths. At the end of all this mixing, it feels a little like dumping a full ash tray over your head, much of your clothes and the floor or chair you’re sitting on. Once you’ve gotten over that, you twist or braid the sections down and leave it in for a few hours or days. I go three days or sometimes up to a week. You will need to re-spray the hair with water every day or so to keep the paste intact. You’ll smell like an ash tray for all of it and afterwards, you, your clothes and the room. Your hair will look like it hasn’t been washed for years. You’ll need to wear a shower cap to bed. And you’ll ruin the bathroom. But no, pain, no gain. The women of Chad are renowned for type 4 hair so long they can sit on it. And if you want to grow type 4 hair to such uncommon lengths, it’s probably going to take something quite drastic.
